Alexandria, Kentucky
August  18-19

Three Rivers Outboard Racing Association is gearing up to cap off its 2007 racing season at Alexandria, Kentucky’s beautiful A.J. Jolly Lake, August 18-19.   TRORA began racing in Alexandria in1999 and has hosted some of the midwest’s premier events during that time.  In 2000, A.J. Jolly was the site of the Stock/J Central Divisionals and in 2001 hosted the Mod Nationals.
With camping on site, exclusive use of the lake and the traditional Saturday night dinner party at Bob Trolian’s home, the Northern Kentucky Outboard Challenge is an event unlike any other.  Additionally, many racers will enjoy the opportunity to race three times over the weekend.  With a limited schedule, drivers in the largest seven classes will be able to race three times instead of two.  The added boat time is a big drawing card for the event.
The classes on the schedule are:  JH, JR, AXSH, AXSR, ASH, ASR, BSH, BSR, CSH, 20SSH, 25SSH, DSH, BMH/25MH combined, CMH, DMH, FEH and DMR.  The lake will be closed at noon on Friday for testing at your own risk.
Being the third and final TRORA race of the 2007 season, the battle will be on for the coveted club high point championship.  And with some classes getting a third day of racing, the opportunity to make a move in the point standings is within reach.
Even with the added racing, the event is usually concluded by 4pm each day, which gives drivers and crews an early exit from the site and easier trip home.  Don’t miss the action at the Northern Kentucky Outboard Challenge, August 18-19 in Alexandria, Kentucky.  For more information, contact Race Director Dana Holt at dholt@wkrc.com.

Post-Race Article

Alexandria, Kentucky was the third and final race of the 2007 TRORA race season.  Three were approximately 65 entries each day at beautiful A.J. Jolly Lake.  Racers from Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, New Jersey and Indiana were on hand to compete.

Friday was a busy day for most as the race committee was already on hand preparing the lake for the race.  There were also several racers already at the site getting their boats wet testing in preparation for the weekend.

With a select number of classes on the schedule and with a turnout of approximately 65 entries each day, the race committee decided to run all classes a third time throughout the weekend.  Most drivers were excited about this and took full advantage of the situation by registering for the third day’s event.  All classes had a nice showing of equipment with the largest classes of the weekend being ASH, 20SSH and CSH.  The ASH class was made up of 10 entries of both veteran and novice racers.  All drivers were vying for the win and utilizing their expert driving skills to do so.  Unfortunately, for Ed Harrington and Nate Forshey, the racing gremlins got to them.  Harrington spun his boat out and Forshey, with no where to go, crashed into him causing both drivers to retire their rigs for the weekend as both boats suffered major damage.  Luckily, it was only the boats that suffered damage and not the drivers as both drivers were ok.  20SSH was the next largest class of the weekend with 8 entries.  The racing was spectacular all weekend with dog fights between Brian Trolian, Nate Forshey and Dana Holt.  Excellent driving prevailed for the winners while motor gremlins, and survival of the fittest played havoc for all the other entries.  Rick Wagner Jr. suffered a dislocated shoulder after barrel rolling his boat in turn two.  Rick made a quick stop at the ambulance for some bandaging and was on the mend for the rest of the weekend.  His boat suffered some minor damage as well.  Ed Harrington and Jesse Ward came together in turn one on Sunday causing enough damage to both boats that they were unable to finish the weekend.  Joe Silvestri had motor problems all weekend with his Yamato 80 and was unable to finish a heat.  TRORA wishes all drivers who suffered damage to their equipment or themselves a speedy recovery!  CSH had 7 entries, with all but two of the rigs being MJR brand boats.  The racing was just as fierce as all the other classes on the weekend and the winner was the driver who was able to garner the best start.  Great racing was seen between Brian Williams, Joel Wiegel, Jon Robarge and Joe Silvestri.  All other classes on the weekend put on a great show as well.

TRORA would like to thank the race committee as well as all of the drivers who attended this great race!  Hopefully, everyone will come back next year for another great weekend of racing.

The highlight of the weekend was the dinner Saturday night at Bob and Linda Trolian’s home.  Bob and his family invited everyone to his home for dinner.  Bob and his wife worked all day to prepare enough food to feed everyone at the race.  Everyone had a spectacular time at the Trolian’s!  Thank you very much goes out to the Trolian family for having us at your home for a great dinner!!!
